TRAINING PROGRAM FOR TRAFFIC AND SAFETY DEVICES FOR ROAD WORKS


Road worksites are complex environments where both road users and staff need to be protected. The Swedish Transport Administration sets high standards of competence for those who work with traffic and safety devices.

Working on the road Step 2.2 gives you in-depth knowledge of planning, deploying and managing traffic arrangements. The course is also for those who manage staff with Stage 1 competences.

During the training, we go through laws, regulations and practical steps that will enable you to carry out your work safely and effectively.

Who needs the training?

The course is aimed at those who work with:

  • Erection, maintenance and dismantling of signs and shelters
  • Traffic management as a guard or pilot
  • Securing vehicles for mobile work
  • Managing and instructing employees with Stage 1 competences

Prerequisites required: Working on the road Stage 1 (1.1-1.3) or Level 3A completed within the last 5 years.

  • Laws and regulations (Work Environment Act, Traffic Ordinance, VMF)
  • Protective devices - selection, location and function
  • Occupational health and safety plans and TA plans (Traffic arrangements)
  • The V3 principle: Warn, Guide, Protect
  • Information and communication to TLC, third parties and road users
  • Practical steps in handling protection during road works
