How the education benefits you
Become licensed in the use of the chainsaw. Choose between Industrial / Construction license (A), or a more comprehensive (A + B) license, which permits chainsaw use in timber work in the forests e.g. tree felling.
Upon completion of the course and tests (both theory and practical), participants will receive a course certificate indicating the level, extent and content of the education.
Class content
Class A
The training aims at providing the skills required to safely use the chainsaw for common woodwork, such as sawing clean wood for construction work (note that tree felling is not included).
Learn about:
- current safety regulations and the risks associated with the use of the chainsaw e.g. relevant sections in AFS 2012: 01
- starting and safe handling
- safe operation and cutting skills
- daily care and maintenance
- safety measures and protective equipment
- identification and avoidance of dangerous and unsafe tasks
Class B
Class B is a comprehensive course on tree felling, including large branches. Felling of particularly difficult trees and collection are also discussed in detail.
Learn about:
- current safety regulations when using a chainsaw in normal forest work and the risks associated with the use e.g. the remaining relevant parts in AFS 2012: 01
- knowledge and skills required to recognise, plan and implement tree felling of "normal" trees of varying size with proper control and safety (up to max. 65 cm stub diameter)
- use of different common tree-felling tools
- understanding of the special risks associated with wind-felled trees, trapped trees and strains, as well as an overview of some common working methods
- knowledge and skills for complementary equipment such as lifting gear, lift hook and measuring tape
- identification and avoidance of dangerous and unsafe tasks
